Jazz guitarist Herb Ellis died

New York - Jazz Guitarist Herb Ellis, Former member of the Oscar Peterson Trio, has died at the age of 88. Ellis died, according to his son Mitch on Sunday at home in Los Angeles the consequences of his Alzheimer's disease, such as the "New York Times reported.

The native Texan had bought with his polished, blues-influenced playing as a soloist widely recognized. Ellis began his rise in the well-known for his improvisation modern-jazz guitarist Charlie Christian. But unlike Christian mixte Ellis bebop with the earthy sound of the blues and a touch of Country Music. 1947, joined Mitchell Herbert Ellis, his full name, along with two members of  the Jimmy Dorsey band, pianist Lou Carter and bassist Johnny Frigo, to


the vocal and instrumental trio Soft Winds. Her song "Detour Ahead" became a classic, among other things, in an interpretation of Billie Holiday.

Ellis earned international fame as guitarist for the group to Oscar Peterson, of 1953 to 1958. He then went to Ella Fitzgerald on tour and was used by the famous record producer Norman Granz on recordings with Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz and Fitzgerald. After several years as a musician for television, he went back to the Jazz in 1973 and played until the 1990s with his two colleagues, Barney Kessel and Charlie Byrd under the name "Great Guitars".
